Modern Gala: Lost Gen
Saturday, July 11, 2020 — 7 p.m.
“Dinners, soirees, poets, erratic millionaires, translations, lobsters, absinthe, music, promenades, oysters, sherry, aspirin, pictures, Sapphic heiresses, editors, books, sailors. And how!” – Hart Crane, 1929
Spend your evening with us in 1920s Paris at Modern Gala: Lost Gen inside the National WWI Museum and Memorial to experience the cafe and cabaret culture during “the mad years” (le Années folles)! The Lost Generation came of age 100 years ago in a time of war, but then flourished in a community of boundary-breaking thinkers, dreamers and social activists who gathered around bistro tables and good drinks, stimulating creative innovation that still influences our lives today.
Whether you’re inspired by artists like Pablo Picasso, writers like Gertrude Stein, musicians like Cole Porter or performers like Josephine Baker; Modern Gala: Lost Gen will add a splash of razzmatazz to your summer evening.
