Lives and Legacy of Liberty

African American Service in WWI
Thursday, May 12 - 6:30 p.m. Auditorium and YouTube Live

At Missouri’s bicentennial, Clay Countians came together to create the Liberty African American Legacy Memorial to honor more than 750 African Americans buried in the segregated, mostly unmarked, sections of Fairview and New Hope Cemeteries. Included in this hallowed ground are several veterans who served and sacrificed in WWI. Learn about these individuals and the significant legacy of African American contribution in WWI with Dr. Cecilia Robinson, Dr. Antonio Holland and Marvin Greer. The program is presented in partnership with the Clay County African American Legacy Inc., and the Greater Kansas City Black History Study Group.
