Winnie-the-Pooh: A Canadian Story

Sunday, Dec. 14 | 2 p.m. Central Time Zoom Conference

Created by British author A. A. Milne and popularized by American animator Walt Disney, Winnie-the-Pooh is often thought of as a beloved Anglo-American character. As we celebrate the centennial of Pooh’s publication in The London Times, Megan De Roover will remind us of the bear’s Canadian roots. Investigate the narrative of Harry Colebourn’s relationship with Winnipeg – the original black bear – and their places within the histories of Canadian nationalism and bear conservation.
