Pershing Lecture Series: The Evolution of Battlefield Communications

Tuesday, Jan. 10 - 6:30 p.m. Auditorium and YouTube Live

Modern warfare revolves around the ability of commanders at all levels to direct the movement of their forces and to coordinate supporting fires, supplies and reinforcements. Although the 50 years prior to the Great War witnessed one of the most dramatic periods of innovation in weaponry in human history, the development of communications technology failed to keep pace. This uneven evolution of technology had profound ramifications on the battlefields of World War I. Listen in with Dr. Dirk Ringgenberg as he transmits the development of military communications during the Great War and how it shaped the conflict.
