Monday, Aug. 17, 2026 | 6:30 p.m. Central Zoom Conference

The Panthéon de la Guerre – the world’s largest painting at the time of its completion in 1918 – depicts nearly 6,000 prominent Allied wartime figures. Bestowed to the Museum and Memorial after decades of neglect, sections of the work have been installed inside Memory Hall for over 70 years. Discover this painting’s incredible journey from Europe to Kansas City with Museum Educator Reyna Catching as she dives deep into the history and hidden symbolism of this nearly forgotten masterpiece.

Hosted in celebration of the Museum and Memorial’s 100th anniversary.

Story of the Museum and Memorial

Shortly after the Armistice, Kansas City residents built the Liberty Memorial to honor those who served and died in the Great War and to serve as a beacon of freedom to the world. Today, Kansas Citians continue that legacy through an internationally-recognized museum, illuminating the war's global impact and enduring influence.
