Future of Peacekeeping in a Troubled World

Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025 | 6 p.m. Reception, 6:30 p.m. Panel Auditorium

A longstanding mission of the United Nations, international peacekeeping – pioneered by the League of Nations – is at a crossroads. Through legitimacy, burden sharing and an ability to deploy troops and police worldwide, U.N. Peacekeepers have helped countries navigate the difficult path from conflict to peace. Joined by international military officers, U.S. Navy Captain Lonnie Fields, Officer-in-Charge, Chief of Staff, of the U.N. Department of Peace Operations' Office of Military Affairs, will share more on the experience of peacekeeping and contemplate its future at a time of escalating global tensions.
