A Royal Celebration

$5 Admission on Tuesday, Nov. 3

In conjunction with the Royal Celebration events taking place in downtown Kansas City to celebrate the Kansas City Royals’ 2015 World Series title, the National World War I Museum and Memorial is offering special $5 admission and a one-day only exhibit of World War I-era baseball artifacts on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The activities are made possible by the generous support of Lockton Companies, DST Systems, Inc.Belger Cartage ServiceCerner Corporation, Henderson Engineers, Inc.Aon and Ivy Funds.

The Royal Celebration event features a parade at Noon through downtown Kansas City followed by a Victory Rally at approximately 2 p.m. co-hosted on the grounds of Union Station and the Museum. Spectators are invited to watch the rally from the North lawn of the Museum or the Museum Courtyard, which offers a picturesque view of downtown Kansas City. Before or after the parade/Victory Rally, Royals fans are invited to tour the Museum during its hours of operation from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The one-day only special exhibit presented by Lockton Companies features several World War I-era baseball artifacts, including a Spalding “Brooklyn Style” short brim baseball cap, a YMCA issue  Louisville Slugger baseball bat, canvas athletic shoes, a Spalding baseball catcher’s mask and photographs of baseball games played in Europe during the war.

The Museum will also have parking available for those interested in attending the parade, the rally or visiting the Museum. Parking at the Museum will open at 8 a.m. at a cost of $15 and is available on a first come, first serve basis. During the events, guests will not be able to access the Museum via Pershing Road and will need to use Main Street or Wyandotte Street.

Fans can watch the parade/rally on the Museum’s 30-foot screen while sitting in plush seats in J.C. Nichols Auditorium. Hungry guests will also have the opportunity to “Eat Like a Soldier” at the Museum’s Over There Café, which will offer a special menu to mark the celebration of the Royals’ World Series title. Additionally, fans have the opportunity to purchase a special commemorative WWI-inspired dog tag featuring an inscription dedicated to the World Series championship.
