Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Parking?
Parking is located on the South side of the Museum and can be accessed off Memorial Drive. Free parking is available in the U-shaped drive and an adjacent lot.

Where is the front entrance located?
The front entrance is located on the South side of the complex. Look for bronze doors at the bottom of the ramps by the fountain. The bronze doors are located directly under bronze lettering with the Museum’s name.

Is the Museum handicapped accessible? Are wheelchairs available for rent?
Yes. The Museum is handicapped accessible – except for the Tower which was built in the 1920s. The Museum has a limited number of wheelchairs available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. We do not take reservations for the wheelchairs. Wheelchairs are available at the Museum Store. Those borrowing wheelchairs are asked to leave a form of identification which will be given back upon return of the wheelchair.

Can I use cameras in the Museum?
Yes. You are welcome to use cameras with or without flash in the Museum. Tripods and stand alone lighting are not allowed.

Can I visit the top of the Tower?
Yes. The Liberty Memorial Tower has a 217-foot-high, open air observation deck. To reach the top of the Tower, guests ride an elevator and climb 45 steps.

Is there an ATM on property?
No. There is not an ATM located at the Museum; however, we accept cash, money orders, travelers checks, organizational checks and MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover.

Is there an audio tour available?
No. The Museum does not have an audio tour available at present. However, there are many portions of the Museum that have audio incorporated into the experience.

Can I purchase tickets in advance?
Yes. Although you do not need to purchase tickets in advance to visit on a specific day, you can purchase tickets as a gift or for a special occasion. Call (816) 784-1918 and your order can be taken over the phone using a debit or credit card. Tickets will be mailed or can be held at the admissions area if needed in less than one week.

Does the Museum offer coat check service?
Yes, this service is offered for free. The coat check area is to the right after entering the building.

Are strollers permitted?
Yes. Strollers are permitted everywhere, except for the Tower.

What are the dining options available at the Museum?
The Over There Café is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and serves a variety of delicious sandwiches, salads, soups, pizzas and more.

Can I arrange for a guided tour of the Museum?
Yes. Guided tours are available for school groups and groups of 15 or more who arrange their visit in advance. For group tour information click here.

Does the Museum offer anything for hearing-impaired visitors?

Yes. With a touch of a button, all videos throughout the Museum are closed captioned. To locate the buttons, ask a volunteer or staff member during your visit.
